Who we are

HELLO MONDAY/DEPT® is a creative studio that makes digital (and magical) ideas, products and experiences. We’re called Hello Monday because we aim to make Mondays better. Better for the people and organizations we collaborate with, better for their users, better for us, and better for our planet. That might be a lot of pressure to put on design and technology, but we asked them and they’re totally okay with it.

Yes, we have a Code of Honor

Code of Honor

We are here to make Monday a happy place. The day when you get excited about returning to work and achieving great things together. Mostly that happens on instinct. But we find it helps to write some of it down. Here are eight things we have learned – think of it as the source code for Hello Monday.

01

01

Be nice

This is rule #1 at Hello Monday. Be nice. It works amazingly well. Be nice to everyone, even (especially) the people who annoy you. We once turned the world’s most angry mail(wo)man into a happy, singing mail(wo)man by being nice to her for two years straight. Nice takes time and patience, but it works.

Enjoy the ride

We’re in a fluid world, where we don’t know what technologies we’ll be using next, or what type of projects we’ll be doing. Hello Monday is an ongoing experiment and you’re part of it. Embrace the unexpected. If life gives you lemons, launch an amazing lemon-based digital platform.

07

Help each other

Ask for help. If you’re stuck or frustrated, then asking for help is a sign of strength. The next day it could be you offering help. If people look like they’re overloaded, step up. Whether we fail or succeed, we do it together.

02

01

Use our powers for good

As creative thinkers and doers, we have the power to change the world, one pixel at a time. With that power comes great responsibility. Let’s use our creative magic to create meaningful work that solves problems and improves lives.

05

Speak up and listen

Great ideas can come from anywhere. So don’t keep your thoughts trapped inside your head. Share them and see where they lead. Even more importantly, listen to the people around you – whether it’s a client, colleague or cab driver. The idea is out there, waiting to be spotted. Stay alert.

08

Team up

Talent wins games, but teamwork wins championships. Michael Jordan said that, and he knew something about winning. When you talk or present, remember “I” didn’t do it, “we” did. Hello Monday is here to win the problem-solving championship (that should really be a thing).

03

codeofhonor00

Try the truth

Truth isn’t always the easiest path, but it is the shortest one. You may feel like being honest could hurt someone’s feelings. But since everyone here is nice (see Rule #1) you can count on it always coming from a good place. Whatever the project, it helps to think beyond feelings and consider the end goal: creating magic for the users.

06

Solve the problem

You may be the developer, producer, designer or someone else within Hello Monday. But we’re all doing the same job: problem-solving. So don’t let your job title limit your job. If you feel like you’re stepping outside your role, go for it. If you’re waiting for permission, don’t. And if it’s still not working, proceed to the next step.
